ShirleyHi, I am Shirley. I have 2 young children. I also have a son who is all grown, Idid use a baby carrier with him but it was a narrow based carrier that wasn't particularly comfortable. When I was pregnant with Joseph I researched a lot about different modern carriers and the benefits of wearing your baby. I decided I wanted to carry my new baby from the start. I first used a stretchy wrap, then moved on to an soft structured carrier the we use a toddler carrier.
We have had such a lovely journey together, taking full advantage of being able to access all areas of the bay with the dog. Every day we were out walking somewhere. I totally fell in love with babywearing and feel passionate about helping to give others the opportunity to find their own journey of babywearing with their babies and find the perfect carriers for them, so I trained as a Peer Supporter with School of Babywearing. |

I am a mother of 3 (1 boy and 2 girls). I have a huge passion for supporting parents and my work takes me through doing that in both the antenatal and postnatal period. Im an Adv. Birth and beyond practitioner as well as running pregnancy yoga and baby yoga. I have recently been supporting the Children's Centre in creating a new format for their Preparing for Parenthood classes. I am also passionate about supporting mothers with breastfeeding and train Peer supporters in Torbay to do the same.
I had a very short babywearing journey. I wished that I knew about sling libraries when my babies were smaller which is why I wanted to get involved with this library. Giving other parents the opportunities to carry their babies for longer. Gilly |
